New program available to providers in the North East LHIN

A new education program focused on Epilepsy offered by London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC) is about to start in the North East LHIN. The program is available to any provider who cares for patients with epilepsy, including primary care, specialists and community hospital providers.

Project ECHO Ontario: Epilepsy Across the Lifespan is a technology-enabled, collaborative, Continuing Professional Development (CPD) accredited learning program that partners community providers and the epilepsy interprofessional team at LHSC to enhance care for people living with epilepsy. This model, delivered via one-to-many videoconferencing, uses a combination of interactive case-based learning and short educational presentations focused on clinical pearls to enhance health care provider learning and build a supportive community and knowledge sharing network.

The program is offered free-of-charge (we are fully funded by MOHLTC) and is completely virtual (no need to travel).

The program endeavors to build a community of practice that embraces an all-teach, all-learn approach to improve epilepsy care, across the continuum. Dr. Jorge Burneo, Co-Director of the Epilepsy Program at LHSC will be offering a curriculum focused on Epilepsy in Adults.

Regular ˇ°teleECHO sessionsˇ± hosted by LHSC will be once monthly on Wednesdays from 1pm ¨C 2:30pm and start on January 16th, 2019. See the attached flyer for a list of topics. Online registration only takes 3-minutes and can be accessed at oen.echoontario.ca/register-for-an-echo/.

More information can be found at www.oen.echoontario.ca or by emailing epilepsy@echoontario.ca.
